Monsoons in India

Wikimedia Commons by Honinbou
The monsoons are the seasonal rains in India. They usually come in the month of June. It is the rainy season which ends by the end of August.

The monsoons rise from the Indian ocean and come from the Arabian Sea, with the clouds heavily laden with water. These rains are beat for the crops and the entire vegetation.

It was about in 45 AD that Hippalus, the Alexandrian merchant discovered the phenomenon of monsoons. It was the monsoons that made it possible for the mariners to cross the Arabian Sea in much shorter time than they could do by keeping close to the coast.

The favorable winds blowing towards the Indian continent were very helpful for the ships to reach the shores.
