Vacuum Cleaning

Vacuum Cleaner
Wikimedia Xommins by Alf van Beem
The dust, soil and filth are the fertile and hidden places for the bacteria and cause several diseases. So it is a healthy practice to keep the house clean and free from bacteria.

We generally broom and dust the rooms, but these methods are superficial time consuming and not completely effective.

The vacuum cleaner is a device which pulls out the dust from every hidden place like curtains, sofa sets, beds etc.

There are several types of vacuum cleaners which are available in different shapes and sizes as per the needs. Before buying a vacuum cleaner, it is advisable to collect complete information about the product.

The upright vacuum cleaner is the most powerful one and can pull out dust particles from the close fibers of the carpets.

The canister vacuum cleaner is smaller in size and is better for staircases, floors, tiles etc.
There is another vacuum cleaner suitable for the houses where pet animals are found as it picks up the hair from every corner of the house.

Oxygen Production at Mars

Wikimedia Commons by NASA Image
The NASA rover will start making oxygen at Mars in 2021. The rover will conduct seven scientific experiments, the purpose of which would be to find the way to send man on Mars, find the evidence of life and bring back the rock samples.

The equipment to convert carbon dioxide into oxygen is another objective of the mission. This oxygen would be helpful for life and return journey.

The rover will carry the equipment weighing 40 Kilogram including two cameras and weather tools. While making an announcement of Mars 2020 mission, the officials of NASA said that they are thrilled.

The cost of this one ton rover based on Curiosity rover of 2012 would be 1.9 billion dollars. But it would contain less equipment than Curiosity and the free space would be used for the rock samples. NASA hopes to bring them back on return journeys.

The present spaceships of NASA can also produce oxygen, but the new equipment would test this capability on Mars for the first time.

Ants Can Save Us from Global Warming

Wikimedia Commons by Guido Gerding
An ant can save us from global warming. A research has come to the conclusion that ever since their evolution about 65 million years ago, the ants have assimilated huge amounts of carbon dioxide from the environment.

The lifespan of an ant is about a year, but as their number increases, they cool down the environment.

According to Reynold Darn, a geologist in the Arizona State University, the ants are changing the environment. He found that some species of the ants take air from the minerals and convert it into limestone or calcium carbonate.

During the process they take carbon dioxide from the air. The ants help in breaking of basalt rocks too. Darn says that, the ants can take out calcium and magnesium from the minerals and use it to make limestone.

Yoga Helped the Germans to Take Away the Football World Cup

Hard work and Yoga made Germany the world champions of football in 2014. The team regularly practiced yoga on the beachesPopularly known as Yogi, the German coach Joachim Loave says that the team would continue doing so in future too.

After the victory in world cup, the news appeared that Loave was not interested to continue coaching the German team. But Loave himself refuted the news and said that at this time he could not think of any other work which is more better than the present assignment.

He said that he would train the German team for 2016 Euro cup.It was in 2013 that Loave renewed his contract with DFB, the German Football Federation, till 2016.He said that the things change during the world cup and he needed some time to control his feelings and to make a future plans.

The Germand lovingly call this 54 years coach as Yogi Loave. He took charge in 2006, after the departure of Yugan Klansmen. Thereafter the German team reached in semifinals in 2010 world cup and became the champion in 2014.

The German team has won the world cup after 1990, but the team reached this summit due to the yogic efforts of Loave.  It is Patrick Brume, who teaches yoga to the German team. He had been the yoga coach of pop star Madonna.

Brume is a psychologist too, and teaches the, life releasing yoga, which makes the body flexible. He has added several modern exercises with this yoga form. It was the former coach Klansman who introduced Brume. Earlier the move was opposed, but later Brume became a part of medical team. According to the team official Brume was appointed in order to develop the concentration of the team.

During the present World cup, Brume trained the team on the sea shores of Brazil. He trained the team with yogic exercises, especially for waist, feet and legs.Brume says that yoga would remain a part of training even if some players had remained indifferent to it in the beginning.

Yoga has become a part of life of some players. It is not compulsory for the players to take part in yoga. The communication Director Herold Stanger says that it is a matter of choice.

Why the Bats Hang Themselves Upside Down

The Bat hanging on a branch

                      Wikimedia Commons

The bats are often seen hanging themselves upside down on trees. The bat could not be seen standing or sitting upright.

The reason behind this topsy-turvy position is the weak bones. The bones of feet of bats are so weak that they could not bear the weight of their body.

When the bats are on ground they put their entire weight on the ground and just lie down. In this way the feet are saved from carrying their weight.

That is why the bats get themselves hung on the branch of the tree, so that the body weight is not on bones but on the stretched or taught muscles and tissues. The bats hang in this position to save the bones of their feet.

The new data transfer world record to download 64,413 CD’s per second

             Wikimedia Commons by Jacarranza

A new record in data transfer has been set up by the researchers of Technical University of Denmark.  They successfully transferred the data of 43 terabytes per second through a single optical fiber.

It is equivalent to the data contained in 64,413 CD’s of 700 MB capacity each.

A new kind of optical fiber to transfer 43 TB data through a single laser was used in a transmitter. The previous record of 32 TB was held by the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology.

This worldwide competition for data transfer speed helps in the development of internet data transfer technology which is increasing at the rate of about 40% per year.

Another thing is that the carbon released through energy consumption by internet is about 2% of that of entire mankind. In this manner the internet is equivalent to the transport industry including aircraft and shipping. However other industries are not growing at the rate of 40%.

So it becomes necessary to increase the bandwidth of the internet, in order to decrease the energy consumption.

Earlier the researchers have succeeded in combined data transfer at the rate of 1 petabyte or 1000 terabyte, but it was done with the help of hundreds of lasers.

The present success was achieved through a new optical fiber brought from NNT, a telecom company of Japan.

Global Warming and Malaria

Wikimedia Commons by Mike Edwards
The global warming causes the deadly diseases like malaria, dengue and cholera. The malaria causes the death of 64475 in the word when the temperature of earth rises just one degree Celsius.

The report in the conference on climate change at UN came to the conclusion that the activities of man directly or indirectly cause climate changes and some of the diseases are the outcome of this change.

Malaria spreads faster due to increase in temperature and causes a global loss of more than 3 billion dollars. Malaria is spreading very fast in the developing countries. More than 109 countries are presently under the effect of malaria, out of which most of the nations are in Africa, Asia and South America.

In developing countries, the malnutrition is the principal cause of the spread of malaria.

According to the report of Lancet & University College London, the principal cause of global warming is fossil fuel. It is rapidly increasing the temperature of the earth due to release of greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide. These gases pollute the atmosphere and change the climate.
